Newborn Baby Session in an Original Eichler Home
The majority of my newborn photo sessions take place in the family’s home. Sometimes we stick to one little area with some good light (we don’t need much!), but when your home is in a super cool, all original Eichler home, we’re going to move around and find different ways to feature it!
As with many of my sessions, I started the parents out by asking them to simply hang out and love their baby. Pretty easy, right? So they snuggled up on their comfy living room couch, and oohed and aahed and kissed and snuggled and smiled at him. Their big, lovable pitbull joined in, too.
After that, we moved through the house, pausing for photos where the architecture and the light were interesting. The dad is a musician, so I made sure to photograph some album art that was on the wall - I’m always keeping an eye out for little details that add to the family’s story.
We took a break for the baby to eat, so I photographed the dog, who was an excellent model. :) After a burp and a diaper change, this boy was good to go, so we headed into the bedroom. I told the parents ahead of time to make sure the room is extra warm and cozy, and it totally worked! His mother placed him on the bed and he just eased into it. His parents and I were amazed by how calm and relaxed he was while I was photographing him like this. I often work quickly when photographing the baby alone, but I was able to take my time with this guy. He was so peaceful and was just as interested in me as I was in him. I could’ve stared at him like this forever. He was such a love.
