Documentary Family Photo Session FAQ

How long are documentary family photography sessions?

These sessions are about 4 hours long, allowing enough time to tell a story in your family’s day.

Do you pose or direct us?

For the most part, no, you will be going about your day as usual. The goal of these documentary sessions is to capture your family as naturally as possible. If you want, though, we can set aside some time for posed portraits.

I like the idea of documentary, but can we make sure to have photos that are flattering?

Yes, just because your photos aren’t posed, doesn’t mean that I’m not composing the most beautiful photos as possible. I’m always looking for the best light and I shoot from flattering angles. When we plan our session, I’ll offer guidance on wardrobe, locations, and time of day that will also help us create beautiful images.

Who are the documentary family sessions for?

These sessions can be for anyone! I’ve documented a day with just a mother and toddler daughter, and I’ve had a blast with a family with teens. When we have our phone call, I’ll make sure we choose the right kind of session for your family.

What do documentary family sessions include?

Your documentary session includes all the best images in your gallery (100+) for you to download and order prints and products. Albums are not included, but I highly recommend them to tell the complete story of your photo session. I’m happy to offer album, design assistance.

Would you be willing to travel or document a family vacation?

Absolutely! I’ve even traveled with families to Europe to capture their family vacation. My passport is up-to-date! ;)
