Maternity Portrait FAQs

When is the best time to take maternity pictures?

Maternity photos are usually done between 30-35 weeks, but some of my expecting moms prefer to do it sooner as they do not want to cut it too close to the delivery date. It also depends on your comfort and energy level. We’ll book a date together, and then we can check in closer to that time to see if we need to modify it. I’m happy to stay flexible.

What are the best San Francisco locations for maternity photos?

Most of my clients will choose a Bay area outdoor or beach location for their maternity photos while some want a more casual or intimate session at home. Some popular outdoor locations are The Presidio, China Beach, and Lands End.

What should I wear for my maternity pictures?

I suggest maternity outfits that highlight the belly, so avoiding loose clothing is best. Most moms wear their favorite maternity dress for outdoor sessions, jeans and a t-shirt for a casual look, or lingerie for an intimate session at home. When you book your session, I’m happy to offer guidance, and you can even send me photos if you’re not sure. See my blog post with more info about what to wear. Can siblings & my partner join the maternity photo shoot?

Absolutely! I love when both parents are able to be present as well as big brother or sister. This allows the sibling to feel special and be part of the maternity photo session.

How long does the maternity session take?

Maternity portraits take around 45 minutes for just the mom and partner, but if we add siblings it can take up to an hour and a half.

 

Do you offer a bundled maternity and newborn package?

Yes. I have a maternity & newborn combo session where you save a percentage off of your session fee if you book both. Contact me for more details.

Do you offer gift certificates for baby shower gifts?

Yes! I offer custom gift certificates for photo sessions that make excellent baby shower presents. Contact me for more details.
